Color-changing LED Turn Signal Bulbs for 2008-2014 WRXs & STIs

These LEDs are pretty cool. It solves the issue of wanting white LED turn signal bulbs but also wanting to stay legal (not having orange turn signals is illegal in many (if not all) states).

They are normally $59.99 a pair, though. Note that they’re currently marked down to $49.99 for the normal set and $79.99 for the mega-bright set(as of 9/4/2014).

UPDATE: Note that if you use these LEDs, you’re going to need an LED-capable blinker relay…that’s the case with any upgrade to LEDs. It can be found here (same site). The price is $19.99, as of 10/7/2014.

LEDs for Subaru STIs?

If you like the clean light that LEDs produce, there are many places online that provide the proper parts for your particular make and model of car.

I initially bought LEDs from Precision LED but one of them burned out for some reason.

When I bought from Precision LED, I bought the following:

Interior Base Package (2 maplight bulbs, 1 dome bulb), Cool White (8000K)
License Plate LEDs (Qty: 2), Crystal White (6000K)
Trunk LED (Qty: 1), Crystal White (6000K)

I’ve ordered another (license plate LED), as well as an extra, but from a different place, SuperBright LEDs. The particular type I ordered is here. I’ve not yet compared the two bulbs.

EDIT: So, I replaced the blown Precision LED bulb with the SuperBright LED and left the other Precision LED bulb in the housing, just to see if I could get a good comparison between the two. The SB LED is a LOT brighter, so much so that I might have to put them both in, just so the lighting doesn’t look ‘off’. I’ll see if I can capture it on video, but here’s an evening picture comparison, with the SB LED on the left, above the lighthouses:

What Have I Been Doing With the Car Lately?

Not much. I can’t even remember the last time I washed it. I’ve a safety inspection due by the end of October, though, and I need several things done before then. I need to replace a stripped lug stud on the rear driver side hub (and I also need a new lug…I may buy new lugs). I also need a new set of LED licence plate lights (one stopped working…less than a year after purchase). I probably need those before I can pass inspection.

What’s my next purchase(s) for the car? I was supposed to get window tint 2 years ago (LOL), so I guess that needs to happen soon. I also want a Nameless midpipe to match my axleback system (it’ll give me some slight hp/torque gains without having to worry about a tune)…those are a bit expensive, though, at approx. $500. I also want a sway bar set, in case I decide to autocross next year.

It’s getting cold enough to where I’m noticing the tires are “lumpy” when I first drive it during the day, but it’s still a bit too early to put on the winter tires without getting some tire wear. I’m wondering if it’s going to snow this year (it’s predicted to be a pretty bad winter)…we’ll see.
